Matt is a highly regarded director/writer and showrunner/EP with more than twenty five years of international experience across features, docs, film and tv.

A former environmental/marine scientist and a lifelong creature of the ocean, Matt is a uniquely skilled marine specialist. Adept at expeditions, keeping his team safe and being in the right place at the right time to get the shot.

He is notorious for his even keel, positive demeanour and hands on skills with all levels of production.

Matt’s philosophy on film is much like his philosophy on music: any genre as long as it’s good. His first feature film (as co-writer) won official selection at SxSW, his recent projects include Directing feature docs for Stan and National Geographic,  taking Robert Irwin for his first shark odyssey in the headline film for SHARK WEEK 2021. He has extensive experience as director, series producer, post producer and EP and has worked through award winning ob-doc series like AMBULANCE, true crime, comedy and even kids tv.

A fanatical surfer and highly accomplished ocean racing sailor, Matt recently came third in the Sydney to Hobart race in a fifty year old boat.
